A: The module provides an "Extras" feature that can be configured within the rental product section.
These extras can be associated with a product in two ways:
-
Linked to a Product: For physical items like a GPS unit with limited stock (e.g., only 10 units), you can link the Extra to the product. This ensures that the stock level is properly managed.
-
Stand-alone Product (Extra not linked to a Product): Alternatively, for non-physical items such as insurance, you can simply provide the name and price of the Extra The Extras value will be included in the total rental cost.
Example Scenarios:
-
Physical Item (Linked): Suppose you offer GPS units as an Extra. By linking the GPS Extra to the product, you ensure that the available stock is accurately tracked. If you have only 10 GPS units, the system will prevent customers from adding more than the available quantity.
-
Non-Physical Item (Name and Price Only): For Extras like insurance, where there is no physical item involved, you can directly specify the name and price. These Extras contribute to the overall rental total but do not affect stock levels.
This flexible approach allows you to seamlessly manage both physical and non-physical extras for your rental products, enhancing the customer experience and simplifying your inventory management.
Another important point, when adding an Extra: Ensure you indicate the charging method as well. This can be done by selecting one of the following options:
-
By Rental: The charge will be applied once for the entire rental duration.
-
By Period: The charge will be calculated based on the specific rate duration (e.g., daily, hourly, monthly).
-
Per Rental Item: Each item within the rental will incur a separate charge for the extra.
Summary:
-It's important to consider the nature of the Extra (physical or non-physical) when deciding whether to link it to a product or provide just the name and price.
- Ensure that you indicate the charging method whether it's "Per Item," "Per Period," or another option that suits your needs.
