If the wrong SKU is linked, it’s usually caused by identifier mismatch or an incorrect linking method selection.
Step 1: Confirm your linking method
ToolE can link using:
SKU
Barcode (Shopify Barcode matches Amazon SKU)
Metafields (Shopify metafield matches Amazon SKU)
ASIN (Pro/Enterprise)
Make sure the method you chose is the one that matches how your catalog is actually populated.
Step 2: Fix the identifier data (exact match matters)
Common causes:
Extra spaces (ABC-123 vs ABC-123 )
Formatting/capitalization differences
Missing or duplicated variant SKUs
Metafield filled at product level when it should be at variant level
Step 3: Re-run linking after correcting data
In ToolE:
Go to Connect → Settings
Adjust import/linking settings if needed (SKU/Barcode/ASIN etc.)
Click Save & Authorize (changes won’t apply until saved)
Re-fetch/relink per your connection workflow
Note: Metafield linking still requires fetching the entire Shopify catalog to relink.
Step 4: If the issue is the Amazon SKU itself (Amazon SKUs can’t be edited)
You can change a SKU in Shopify, but on Amazon:
SKUs cannot be changed or reused
Uploading/creating a new SKU creates a new record on Amazon
If the Amazon SKU is wrong, the practical fix is:
Create a new Amazon offer/SKU with the correct SKU (same ASIN is fine), wait for it to appear, then delete the old offer/SKU.
If you want to be extra careful, don’t delete the old one until the new SKU appears.
If it’s FBA, you may need to remove/return inventory before switching the SKU workflow.
(For Amazon-side steps, it’s best to confirm with Amazon Seller Support.)
